ELPD officer wins award

May 22, 2008

East Lansing Police Department Officer Tresha Rodriguez has been named Woman of the Year by Lansing State Journal’s Greater Lansing Woman magazine.

Rodriguez, 37, was nominated by her younger sister, Amy Magley. She was acknowledged for saving a child from a burning building and teaching defensive tactics to co-workers at the ELPD, according to GLW.

Rodriguez has been with the ELPD nearly 14 years, East Lansing police Capt. Kim Johnson said. She has worked in the detective bureau and currently is back in the patrol division. She also has been trained as a motorcycle officer.

The department is extremely proud of Rodriguez, Johnson said.

“She’s a wonderful employee,” Johnson said. “We can’t say enough good things about what she’s done for the organization.”
