Woman injured in car-train collision

A woman traveling northbound on Harrison Avenue near Trowbridge Road sustained minor injuries after colliding with a freight train at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, East Lansing police Sgt. Carl Nowak said.

The crash occurred after the woman drove around the railroad track gate arms, which were in the down position, Nowak said. The woman was taken to an area hospital. She was the only person in the vehicle.

No one in the train was injured, Nowak said.

The road near the accident was closed following the accident, but opened again at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday
