Top 5 MSU/U-M moments

No. 3: The Brent Petway Experience

January 23, 2008

Feb. 18, 2006 – MSU 90, U-M 71

The Spartans hockey, men’s basketball and gymnastics teams wage war with U-M this weekend, so the sports desk brings you the Top 5 moments in the rivalry during the past five years.

After a vicious elbow to Maurice Ager in the game between the two teams on Jan. 25, Michigan’s Brent Petway was public enemy No. 1 when the Wolverines came into Breslin Center on Feb. 18. Members of the Izzone held up signs like “If you can read this, you’re not Brent Petway,” and “Brent Petway is a talentless thug.”

What followed couldn’t have been scripted any better for Spartans fans.

Petway, nicknamed “Air Georgia,” missed two dunks and had a blocked 3-pointer bounce off his head and out of bounds.

On top of all that, the Spartans blew out the Wolverines, 90-71.

Adding to the hilarity was a highlight video of U-M’s various blunders during the game set to Petway’s hilariously bad rap song. You can find it at YouTube.com. Watch and enjoy.
