A flood warning is in effect for areas near the Red Cedar River and Grand River Avenue due to rising water levels, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, Red Cedar River water levels were about 7 feet, high enough to cause damage to nearby buildings or roads.
A press release from the Office of Emergency Management indicated that warm weather and rainfall in the past few days have caused the flood warning.
National Weather Service forecasters don’t expect the flooding to have any effects on homes or businesses, but it could impact low-lying parks and streets today.
