Raw food diets are healthy, greatly benefit participants

I loved the article Eating raw for better health (SN 10/22). Raw food definitely has become more popular in this country with various renowned raw foodists/authors traveling the country giving talks on this subject. Victoria Boutenko, David Wolfe, Tonya Zavasta and Paul Nison have all come to the Lansing area to give lectures over the years. Boutenko was in Lansing to lecture last month.

Dr. Gabriel Cousens has and is currently conducting research in Patagonia, Ariz. with favorable results for raw veganism. Cousens is featured in the documentary movie “Raw for 30 Days,” available at www.rawfor30days.com, along with many other experts on the subject.

Also, if you don’t already know, the Lansing area has a monthly Lansing Living Food Group meeting the first Monday of the month, unless there’s a holiday, from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Here is the Web site: http://www.livinghiho.com. This group meets each month starting with a raw vegan potluck. The first time you come, there is no need to bring a dish. Just come and check it out. We start off with a blessing, announcements, eat raw vegan potluck and then have a health-related speaker talk.

Also, Creative Health Institute in Union City, known as The Wheatgrass Place, has 10-day raw vegan retreats and other raw vegan events. Here is their Web site: www.creativehealthinstitute.com.

In addition, Ronora Lodge in Watervliet has RAWnora events throughout the year. Here is their Web site: http://www.rawnora.com.

Again, thanks for getting the message out and educating people about the goodness of incorporating raw vegan foods into the American diet.
