CORRECTION: The headline should have said Nathan Triplett is an MSU alumnus.
Hardly a day goes by without The State News reporting one issue or another under consideration by the East Lansing City Council that will impact MSU students. Yet, I can’t help but wonder if anyone at City Hall is listening to the voices of students. MSU students need to make our voices heard by voting in City Council elections for candidates who are concerned about the interests of everyone who lives in this community.
A few weeks ago, I heard one of the City Council candidates, Nathan Triplett, speak to a group of students on campus. He said something that struck me: “When you hear me talk about ‘our community,’ you’ll always know that I mean permanent residents and student residents of East Lansing.” That’s the attitude we need on the City Council! We need to build bridges between the city and the campus — not barriers. Triplett is just the candidate to help do that. He’s got my vote.
