Police briefs 07/31/07

A 20-year-old MSU student was arrested after embezzling $280.17 from the International Center between noon June 6 and noon July 23, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student had been taking approximately $20 from the register at the end of her shift in various locations. The shortage was noticed by a supervisor who contacted the employee. She later admitted to stealing the money, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student is being charged with embezzlement under $1,000, McGlothian-Taylor said.About $6,200 in damage was committed to two vending machines in Munn Ice Arena between 10:15 p.m. Friday and 10:50 a.m. Saturday, McGlothian-Taylor said. An MSU employee on his way to get a soda noticed damage and items missing from a snack vending machine and Pepsi vending machine. The Pepsi machine sustained about $3,000 worth of damage, while the snack vending machine had about $3,200 worth of damage, McGlothian-Taylor said. The employee said he left and locked the arena during that time and did not suspect anyone was in the building. The incident is still under investigation, McGlothian-Taylor said.
