Two high school students were victimized Saturday after they had $900 in items stolen from them at the East Lansing High School prom being held in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The 16-year-old girl left her purse on one of the tables in the Big Ten room when she wanted to go dance. The second victim, an 18-year-old man, placed his items in the purse prior to arriving at the prom, McGlothian-Taylor said.The purse contained a $300 Blackberry, $130 in cash and a Verizon Chocolate mp3 phone. The purse was found in the women's bathroom garbage with nothing in it, McGlothian-Taylor said.About $200 in damage was caused to a 1998 Gateway 2000 desktop computer between 10 a.m. May 14 and 10 a.m. May 15 in the Business Library when an unknown suspect spread creamy peanut butter on the computer and in the floppy drive, McGlothian-Taylor said.The employee who noticed the peanut butter-covered computer said the computer was old and the floppy drive was the only device still usable on the computer. The case is still under investigation, McGlothian-Taylor said.Ashley A. Smith
