A 43-year-old female university employee reported a $200 medical vacuum stolen from the "A" wing of the Clinical Center between 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and 7:15 a.m. March 23, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The woman said the vacuum, which is used in medical procedures, was left in a room that is left unlocked during work hours, but locked after work.A Friday fire in Giltner Hall caused $50 damage, McGlothian-Taylor said. The fire began at about 7:50 a.m. after sparks from a welding job landed on a couch and chair that were within 10 feet of the welding area. The East Lansing Fire Department responded and cleared the building, and East Lansing paramedics treated one person for smoke inhalation but the person refused to go to the hospital. There was no damage to Giltner Hall overall, McGlothian-Taylor said. The college student whose home contained seven pounds of marijuana and a substantial amount of cash has not been arrested, said Lt. Timothy Gill of the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad, who conducted the raid. The student, who is the only suspect associated with dealing the marijuana, was not home at the time of the raid, Gill said. He added that the squad was still looking into the case. Gill would not release the location of the East Lansing home, name of the student or amount of money seized from the home. Gill said seven pounds of marijuana has a street value of about $7,000. "We've had occasional students selling marijuana or cocaine or ecstasy," he said. "This is the most marijuana I can remember in recent past."Laura Misjak
