Police briefs 03/22/07

A 19-year-old female student reported her Butterfield Hall dorm room window broken between 5-5:30 p.m. Tuesday and told police she thought she knew the man who did it, said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor.The student said she heard someone outside talking about playing catch football, then heard her window break. She looked out the window and observed a man near the basketball court by the Brody complex courtyard quickly ride off on his bike.Police questioned the male student who she believed broke her window, but he said he was riding on a bus to class at the time and doesn't own a bike.There are no suspects, and damage to the window costs $150.A 20-year-old female student reported her sweatshirt and other items stolen from the basement basketball court of IM Sports-West between 9-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said she left her belongings in her sweat shirt on the court for 15 minutes. When she returned, they were missing.Stolen items include a $150 dark blue Nextel flip cell phone, a $45 sweatshirt, $10 cash, her MSU ID, keys and lip balm.There are no suspects.Laura Misjak
