An 18-year-old male student reported his backpack stolen outside the Wilson Hall Totally Takeout between 11:20-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student left his backpack outside the facility and, after making his purchase, found his bag missing. Students are required to leave their bags outside the TTO facility, McGlothian-Taylor said. The $75 blue JanSport camping backpack contained two books, priced at $140 and $45, and two $1 plastic binders. The incident is still under investigation. Two female students are pressing charges against each other after a verbal altercation and a punch to the eye between 5:20-5:30 p.m. Monday in Hubbard Hall, McGlothian-Taylor said. The women, both 19, have known each other since middle school and have gotten into fights in the past. Monday's fight began when the victim who was punched in the eye returned to her dorm room to find the other student, the suspect, there visiting her friend — the victim's roommate. The two got into an argument and the victim asked the suspect to leave, but the suspect refused saying she was visiting her friend. The verbal confrontation continued and the suspect threatened to injure the victim. The victim told her to go ahead and beat her up, so the suspect struck the victim in the right eye with a closed fist. The victim punched back, and then the two were separated by other people in the room, McGlothian-Taylor said.Laura Misjak
