Men's soccer signs 5 to letters of intent

March 2, 2007

The MSU men's soccer team announced the signing of five new recruits for the fall 2007 season.

"Our 2007 recruiting class is the strongest we have had in several years," Baum said in a statement.

"This class brings back a depth of talent to our MSU program that we lacked this past fall 2006. We expect a number of these recruits to be immediate program contributors."

Defender/midfielder Matt Cebula, goalkeeper Jeremy Clark, defender/midfielder Nosa Iyoha, defender Kolt Martin and midfielder Spencer Thompson will wear the green and white next season as they try to help head coach Joe Baum earn his 300th career win.

Baum needs four wins to reach that mark.

"Defenders Colt Martin and Matt Cebula are both athletic and skillful, while midfielders Spencer Thompson and Nosa Iyoha are both excellent offensively and defensively, while also displaying great work rates," Baum said. "Goalkeeper Jeremy Clark is solid in all aspects of his game, displaying a player's maturity well beyond his years."

The Spartans went 10-6-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the Big Ten in 2006.
