An 18-year-old male student IM Sports-West employee reported a $300 mirror thrown and shattered from a second floor wall between 11:15-11:30 p.m. on Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.A 40-year-old employee witnessed the suspect throwing the mirror down a flight of stairs and the student employee confronted the suspect, who is described as a male from Romeo wearing a black shirt and a Mohawk hairstyle, near the pool. The suspect denied any wrongdoing and fled after the student employee told him to stay until police arrived.The employee observed the direction he was running and informed police, who tracked him down. The suspect was arrested and jailed at East Lansing Police Department for disorderly conduct because the student employee said the suspect had entered the pool area by walking through the women's locker room, McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect was held on a $200 bond, which he posted bail.A 20-year-old male student kicked down an apartment door in Spartan Village at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect said he had loaned his iPod to a friend who lived at the residence and wanted it back. After his friend didn't return phone calls, the student drove to his apartment and saw his friend's vehicle in the parking lot. He said no one answered the door, so he kicked the door down after several tries.The suspect said he realized what he did was wrong and called the maintenance people to repair the door shortly after kicking it down. A witness also called maintenance after seeing the student kick the door. The witness said the student remained in the apartment for 10 minutes after kicking the door down.The 22-year-old victim said the two were good friends and that he was in class at the time of the kicking. The victim gave the iPod to police, who in turn gave it back to the 20-year-old student. The student was arrested for malicious destruction of property and released. The victim isn't prosecuting the man, who caused $400 in damage.Laura Misjak
