A 19-year-old male student reported his trumpet missing from the Music Building basement between 9 a.m. Feb. 5 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student had put the 2001 Yamaha trumpet with all its accessories, worth $2,207.54, in a locker he was issued by the music department. When the student first opened the locker Feb. 5, he had noticed some books in the locker, but thought they were left from the previous owner. The music department later received a report from the previous owner of the locker that someone had put a trumpet in the locker. Apparently, the combination locks were never changed between owners. The previous owner put the trumpet in the hallway, and it subsequently came up missing, McGlothian-Taylor said. There are no suspects.A male university employee reported two trifold, brown gym mats missing from the East Holmes Hall fitness center between noon Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. Wednesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The center is locked and only members who retrieve a key from the main desk are allowed to access it. The center has approximately 100 members, and the mats were 24-by-72 inches.Laura Misjak
