Police briefs 02/08/07

A 23-year-old male student reported $1,735 worth of items stolen from his Spartan Village apartment between 6:45-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said he had locked his apartment and went to IM Sports-West, where he locked his belongings in a locker. After his workout, the student returned to the locker and found his keys missing. The student returned to his apartment at 8:30 p.m., and after management unlocked the door for him, he noticed several items missing from his apartment. Stolen items include an $850 flatscreen television set, $400 Xbox, a $125 Sony PlayStation 2, a $50 video game, two controllers valued at $50 and a $250 iPod. The student said he might have lost his keys between leaving his apartment and going to the gym. The only suspect is described as a 17-year-old Lansing man. The incident is still under investigation.A 20-year-old male student was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing by ambulance Monday after falling down stairs in the Engineering Building, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student was running late for class at about 11:30 a.m. and had decided to jump from the fifth step of the staircase to the second floor. He fell upon landing, injuring his lower right leg. He was wearing low-top running shoes, and the stairs were not wet, McGlothian-Taylor said.Laura Misjak
