Police briefs 02/07/07

Meridian Township police arrested a 26-year-old Lansing woman Tuesday who is believed to have robbed two banks in the past two days. At about 3:10 p.m. on Monday, the woman allegedly entered Comerica Bank, 4829 Marsh Road, and demanded money from the teller, according to a news release. The suspect was described as 5-foot-5 with blond hair. Then, at 11:02 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman entered Fifth Third Bank, 4815 Okemos Road, and demanded money from the teller. The woman was arrested as she tried to flee the scene, Meridian Township police said. The woman is now in custody and bank robbery warrants are being sought. The FBI is helping to conduct the investigation.An 18-year-old male student reported his $250 T-Mobile Sidekick III missing from a Rather Hall bathroom between 10:30-10:33 a.m. on Monday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said he had left the phone on the toilet paper dispenser when he left, but returned shortly after he realized it was missing, and found a man leaving the stall he had been using. When he looked in the stall, the Sidekick phone was missing. The suspect is described as a heavy-set 6-foot-tall male, about 18 years old, wearing a black ski hat, black clothing and a black coat. The student said he has seen the man before and doesn't believe he's a student.Laura Misjak
