A 19-year-old female student reported her Razr cell phone stolen from her purse during a class in Wells Hall between 3-3:50 p.m. Monday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said she had the purse on a chair next to her during the class, but she wasn't paying attention to it. When class was finished, she noticed her $150 phone missing, McGlothian-Taylor said.An 18-year-old female student reported $30 and a $90 calculator stolen from her Bryan Hall dorm room Jan. 20, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student was sleeping in her room with her door unlocked and awoke at 2:30 a.m. to find her calculator and money missing. A witness noticed a suspect leaving the room that night. He's described as a 19-year-old male, 6 feet tall, 147 pounds, with brown eyes and hair, wearing Timberland boots, dark jeans and a gray and red hooded Pepe Jeans brand sweatshirt. The incident is still under investigation.A 23-year-old male student reported his backpack containing his wallet stolen from the bleachers of a gym in IM Sports-West between 8-9 p.m. Monday, McGlothian-Taylor said. His backpack was later recovered and returned. Upon return, the student found his $70 MP3 player and two $10 bills missing.A 16-year-old female from Lansing with no university affiliation reported her $10 fake leather purse and $160 Razr cell phone missing from a Hubbard Hall classroom between 4:05-4:10 p.m. Monday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The girl, who was attending a program that helps high school students prepare for college, left the classroom and realized her purse was missing. When she returned to the classroom five minutes later, it was gone. She asked the students still in the room if they knew where it was, and they said they didn't. Upon calling her phone, it was shut off, McGlothian-Taylor said. The incident is still under investigation.Laura Misjak
