Article overdramatizes armed robbery incident

I am a resident at Twyckingham Apartments, and I would just like to speak out against your nothing but overly sensational and disgusting coverage of the incident at Twyckingham Apartments this past Monday morning, "Off-campus apartment robbed" (SN 1/31). Was it really necessary to state that "a 26-year-old Twyckingham Apartments resident felt the cold pressure of a gun fixed on the back of his head, and saw his blood soaking into the beige carpet of his first-floor apartment during the early hours of Monday morning"? A simple "victim was threatened at gunpoint" would have been plenty good enough.

You obviously did your research to find out what color carpet the resident's blood soaked into, but you didn't further investigate to find out the name of the apartments was changed to Glendwood a couple of weeks ago. You also state that the apartment was robbed, but do not mention anything stolen. You seemed to have missed a lot of details, and instead of giving the public the information it really needed, you just made my community out to be an unsafe area of the MSU community where no one should venture. Please be professional and write your articles a little more tastefully instead of putting out overly sensational crap. It's bad enough I have to see it on FoxNews, let alone the independent voice for an institution of higher learning.
