He's got an oversized head and bulging muscles. He swaggers around in a dashing green Greek costume, dropping into one-handed pushups without a second thought and busting out wacky dance routines.
Oh, and he wins national collegiate mascot championships.
Sparty regained the title of the Universal Cheer Association's No. 1 collegiate mascot. It was Sparty's third first-place title in four years.
"He brings general lovability and fun to every venue he attends," said Ross Ramsey, graduate adviser for the Student Alumni Foundation.
Half the points the association awards a mascot are given because of its video submission.
There were clips of Sparty starting cheers at football games, goofing around with cheerleaders, attending weddings and even shaking hands at a hospital.
Sparty also performed a live 90-second skit for the association last week in Orlando. In his crazy skit, "Sparty's Spectacular," Sparty danced to artists such as KISS, Justin Timberlake and 'N Sync.
He triumphed over college mascots such as Auburn University's "Aubie" and the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis's "Goldy Gopher" to snatch the win.
Co-director for the Sparty Mascot Program Daniel Masterson said Sparty is such a well-loved mascot because of how perfectly he represents the university.
"He's a charismatic, fun-loving, goofy, strong presence-kind of guy," he said.
Winning the national championship just goes to show Sparty excels at everything he does, Ramsey said.
"We feel that he's starting to leave a dynasty down there," he said.
Sparty's involvement in the East Lansing community was a deciding factor in his win, Masterson said.
"Sparty runs out at football games and stabs the flag into the ground, and the whole stadium starts going crazy," Masterson said.
"But at the same time, you see Sparty interacting at a nursing home or putting smiles on kids' faces."
