A Mason Hall resident doing her laundry ran into a smelly situation Friday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The 19-year-old female student found her clothes, which were in the washing machine, covered with Heinz Worcestershire Sauce. The incident comes less than a week after a dryer in Mason Hall was found lined with feces, causing $410 in damages to another female student's clothing. The victim said the sauce was added to the wash around 1-1:15 p.m., said she saw a male student whom she recognized close the lid of the washing machine where the sauce was found and leave the laundry room as she entered. A 5-ounce empty Heinz Worcestershire bottle, identical to those used in the hall's cafeteria, also was found in the wash. The victim also said she noticed the student in the hall's cafeteria eating alone after she had first put the clothing in the wash, McGlothian-Taylor said. When police questioned the man, a 22-year-old male student, he admitted to being in the laundry room, but said he smelled a strong odor, like soy sauce, and — remembering the feces incident — checked the laundry. He said he left without saying anything to the victim because he had forgotten his laundry detergent and was going to do his own laundry. The suspect also said he was in the area of the laundry room when the feces incident occurred, but had nothing to do with it, McGlothian-Taylor said. The victim bleached the tainted laundry and her clothing came out clean. She does not plan to press charges.A 21-year-old male student reported almost being hit in the head when a rock was thrown through his West McDonel Hall dorm room window at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student had arrived home earlier in the night and upon feeling a breeze, had noticed a small hole in his window. Later, as he sat at his computer, a shower of broken glass covered the student as a rock was thrown through the window. The victim told police he believed his former roommate, who had moved out because of a disagreement, and the former roommate's boyfriend could be the culprits. When questioned, the suspects denied throwing the rock. The incident caused about $20 worth of damage, McGlothian-Taylor said.Laura Misjak
