2007 MLK Holiday Luncheon

• The Greater Lansing Area Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission hosts its 22nd annual luncheon. Brother "Bill" Lucy, who worked with King during the Memphis Sanitation Workers' Strike, will be the keynote speaker. A portion of the program also will honor middle school and high school students who placed in the Commission's essay and scholarship program, as well as presentations from local artists. Tickets cost $25 per person, or $200 for a table of eight. For tickets, call (517) 483-7637.
BAMN Rally

• University of Michigan, South University and South Forest
• College and high school students from across the state plan to gather and march against the passing of Proposal 2, demanding that there be "no drop in minority enrollment in higher education in Michigan."
Celebratory March to Beaumont Tower
• 3:30 p.m. Monday
• Beginning at the Union
• The march begins at the Union, then moves toward Yakeley and Gilchrist halls along West Circle Drive to Beaumont Tower. After a speech at Beaumont Tower, participants can go to the MSU Museum for a special viewing of the "Lest We Forget: The Triumph Over Slavery" exhibit. A bus will be provided to pick up participants after the exhibit at 4:30 p.m. to attend the Celebratory Community Dinner at Akers Hall.
Health Screenings at the Islamic Center in Conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
• 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday
• The Islamic Center of Greater Lansing, 920 S. Harrison Ave.
• Students from the Osteopathic Medicine and Human Medicine colleges will be available for health screenings at the Islamic Center. Also available will be orientation for learning skills in treating Muslim patients. For more information, contact Sandy Kilbourn at (517) 432-4979.
Let's Practice: Engaging in Difficult Dialogues of Privilege

• Presented by Kathy Wong, this workshop will give participants an opportunity to improve intercultural skills and practice difficult communication based on interpersonal and institutional practices that shape interaction with diversity across race, gender and class.
