The top portion of a parking meter was stolen between Friday afternoon and Monday morning outside Holden Hall.A university employee discovered the item missing Monday and said it appeared to have been knocked off by a vehicle, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The employee reported that the meter itself was stolen and only the pole remained. The item is valued at $320, McGlothian-Taylor said.A stroller and four pediatrics textbooks were stolen from the Michigan 4-H Children's Garden on campus Sunday only to be retrieved an hour and a half later when the suspect tried to sell back the books at a store.A 43-year-old student reported the items valued at more than $275 stolen when he stepped away from the stroller to show his son the gardens, McGlothian-Taylor said.The man called The College Store, 4790 S. Hagadorn Road, to report the items stolen. When the suspect, a 32-year-old MSU employee, attempted to sell the books back, store employees called police, McGlothian-Taylor said.Meridian Township police apprehended the suspect at the store.When police searched the man, they found a receipt from a pawn shop where he sold the navy blue, jogger-style stroller, police said.Maggie Lillis
