Former MSU quarterback Jeff Smoker is getting another chance at playing football. After a stint with the NFL's St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs for the last two years, Smoker signed on Tuesday with the Nashville Kats, an American Football League team.
Smoker, a sixth-round draft pick in 2004, never appeared in an NFL game during his tenure.
He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs for this season's training camp but was cut soon thereafter.
Smoker holds the school record for total offensive yards (8,714) and was the first MSU quarterback to total 3,000 passing yards in a season. Smoker finished his career with 61 touchdowns.
