A 19-year-old female student was raped by an acquaintance at 3:30 a.m. Saturday in Landon Hall, MSU police said. The assault was classified as a third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which involves some form of penetration. The woman went to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing on Saturday to determine whether or not she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease, MSU police Sgt. Paul Kuchek said Monday. The victim told police she and a friend attended a party and returned to campus together. Although she said an assault occurred, she did not provide details to police about the chain of events or the suspect. The female declined to provide the name of the suspect, in which room in Landon Hall the assault occurred or if the suspect lived in the room.Kuchek said it is procedure for Sparrow Hospital to contact the police department if a rape has been committed or suggested. He said the victim has not filed a police report because she doesn't know yet if she wants to press charges.Maggie Lillis
