Police briefs 10/26/06

An 18-year-old Hubbard Hall resident had $1,000 stolen from her bank account by a 22-year-old relative from Saginaw, Mich. Bradi Williams was charged Wednesday in East Lansing's 54-B District Court with one felony count of false pretenses of less than $20,000. The funds were stolen between Monday and Tuesday when the man withdrew the cash from an MSU Federal Credit Union ATM on Crescent Road and proceeded to insert two empty deposit folders with the MSU student's name on them, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said Williams told her he would deposit his paycheck into her account and she provided her personal information. A credit union employee noticed the fraud and notified the student, McGlothian-Taylor said. Although Williams is a Saginaw resident, he is in the area frequently to visit his girlfriend. He is scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Tuesday.Maggie Lillis
