Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

Heisman watch

No. 1 — Troy Smith

Senior quarterback, Ohio State

Smith put in another solid performance en route to Ohio State's 38-17 thumping of Iowa. As long as Ohio State stays No. 1, Smith does, too.

No. 2 — Adrian Peterson

Junior running back, Oklahoma

Peterson comes into the game against Texas fresh off a bye week. How he performs against one of the nation's best run defenses will make or break his Heisman chances.

No. 3 — Garrett Wolfe

Senior running back, N. Illinois

We don't care what conference he's in. When you're on pace to break Barry Sanders' single-season rushing record, you're on pace to be a Heisman finalist.
