The "U"

Sure, the Miami-FIU brawl was a horrible, disgraceful scene, and it doesn't have any place in sports. But the same could be said for the Pistons-Pacers brawl, and both made for some great television, right? Be honest — you had fun watching it. You were disappointed when it was over. With Lamar Thomas' ridiculous antics in the broadcast booth, Anthony Reddick's helmet-swinging attack and that weird hopping celebration the Miami players did on the sideline, you can't find better entertainment. It was straight out of the WWE — all that was missing was a shot with a steel chair. The Hurricanes might not be good enough to play the evil villain in college football this year, but at least they're still finding ways to keep you on your toes. Well done, fellas. We'd expect nothing less.

Rutgers

Everyone thought the Big East was a two-horse race, but the Scarlet Knights are keeping pace with Louisville and West Virginia. They're 6-0 heading into Saturday's matchup with Pittsburgh. It's amazing what a win against MSU can do for a program's spirits. Don't be surprised when Louisiana Tech is contending for national titles in a few years.

Charlie Weis

The Notre Dame head coach said he'll be in South Bend, Ind., until he dies. Not even a septuple bypass will pry him away.

Lamar Thomas

What, you mean encouraging a massive on-field brawl will get a TV analyst fired? What kind of world are we living in? Even better was Thomas' interview on MSNBC a few days later, when he used the excuse, "It was the first brawl I've had to broadcast, so I really didn't know what to do."

Oh, well then all is forgiven. Carry on, Lamar. Carry on.

Chris Leak

Searching for a word here: Meltdown? Implosion? Collapse? Cataclysmic turn of events? A worse fourth-quarter performance than the MSU offense against Notre Dame?

Whatever you want to call it, Leak played one of the worst 15 minutes of football you'll ever see against Auburn on Saturday, gift-wrapping the win for the Tigers and costing the Gators a shot at going undefeated.

Oklahoma

First, the Sooners lost their starting quarterback. Now, Adrian Peterson — the most physical runner the college game has seen in years — is out for the rest of the year with a broken collarbone. Peterson might be able to make it back for a bowl game, but what's the point? The guy has "NFL Combine" written all over him.
