An MSU economics professor's Canon Powershot A73 3.2 megapixel digital camera and the 512 megabyte Sandisk compact flash card stored inside were stolen Tuesday as he fielded students' questions at the end of class. The 66-year-old professor brought the camera to his Tuesday EC 340: Survey of International Economics class in South Kedzie Hall to take pictures of students during the first few days of class, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. He set it down on the desk and later discovered it was missing when students left. The items are estimated to be valued at $280, McGlothian-Taylor said.Anyone with information pertaining to the items' whereabouts is encouraged to contact MSU police at (517) 355-2222.A large glass panel on the first floor of the Union, worth about $500, was shattered Thursday by a disgruntled male student, McGlothian-Taylor said.At about noon Thursday, a white male student of medium build with blue eyes and brown hair wearing a gray sweatshirt went to the Union's lost-and-found looking for his backpack. When the 19-year-old female attendant retrieved the item, the man was upset a Spanish textbook was no longer inside, and he punched the glass panel of a display case with a closed fist and fled, McGlothian-Taylor said. The incident is still under investigation.Maggie Lillis
