Nationally televised game against Texas could catapult Ohio Sate's Smith into lead

LAST WEEK: Completed 23-of-38 passes for 246 yards and no touchdowns, rushed for one touchdown in a 14-10 win over Georgia Tech.

Quinn has a big stage tomorrow against No. 19 Penn State to make an early-season statement.


Troy Smith

Senior quarterback, Ohio State

LAST WEEK: Completed 18-of-25 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-12 win against Northern Illinois.

Smith could vault into the lead with a good showing against No. 2 Texas on national TV Saturday night.


Adrian Peterson

Junior running back, Oklahoma

LAST WEEK: Carried 24 times for 139 yards and a touchdown and caught a 69-yard touchdown pass in the Sooners' 24-17 win over UAB.

Oklahoma went to Peterson on 11 straight plays coming out of halftime, including both of his scores.


Chris Leak

Senior quarterback, Florida

LAST WEEK: Completed 21-of-30 passes for 248 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Florida's 34-7 win against Southern Miss.

Behind Leak, the Gators were able to rip off 34 unanswered points and erase an early deficit.
