Coming

East Lansing's Renegade Theatre Festival will take place at 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. on Aug. 17, 18, and 19. The event will feature performances from local theater groups, including Peppermint Creek Theatre Company, The Gate Performing Arts Center, All-Of-Us Express Children's Theatre and Lansing Civic Players. The Performances will take place at (SCENE) Metrospace, 303 Abbott Road, the former AROMA Coffee House, 110 Charles St., the former Thai Hut, 136 W. Grand River Ave., and the Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Ave. The event is free, but donations are accepted at all theater venues.

Old Town Poetry Series will host an evening of poetry and music celebrating the life and work of poet Trinidad Sanchez Jr. at 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at Creole Gallery, 1218 Turner St. in Lansing.
