Then-sophomore midfielder Maureen Pawlak and Western Michigan junior defender Chantal Robinson collide after racing for the ball during a match last season.

Maureen Pawlak

Junior soccer midfielder

Hometown: Novi, Mich.

The sport she would be playing if she weren't playing soccer:

"Volleyball. I played it in high school, and it's just totally different from soccer because it's just like high intensity at all times. It's just so fun … a quick-paced game. I enjoy it."

Her favorite teammate to pick on:

"To pick on? I'd have to say (junior) Breana Ballard, our outside mid(fielder). I don't want to be mean. She's my roommate, and it's easy to joke on her."

On pregame rituals and superstitions:

"I always have to put the same lotion on. It's kind of weird.

Just that, and I always have to polish my shoes and stuff like that."

The music on her MP3 player:

"I like a lot of Rascal Flatts, that's probably my favorite. Keith Urban, country-type stuff."
