An off-duty MSU police officer reportedly crashed his motorcycle during training at about 3 p.m. Tuesday at Atrium Drive near Hagadorn Road and Interstate 96. According to dispatch, the officer was unconscious but still breathing. MSU police, the East Lansing Fire Department and the Ingham County Sheriff's Office responded. An Ingham County Sheriff's officer on the scene couldn't confirm the officer's condition but believed it was not life-threatening.A 31-year-old male MSU employee reported a larceny attempt between 4:30 p.m. July 11 and 8:30 a.m. July 13 at the Union. The employee came in July 13 to find a lock and cable to a black and gray 2006 Dell Pentium had been tampered with and part of the casing broken, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The damage is worth about $50.A 23-year-old female Port Huron resident was suspected of retail fraud between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. July 13 at the Spartan Bookstore in the International Center. Three witnesses said she came into the store, went through several books, took some up to the counter and asked for them to hold the books while she got money from her car, McGlothian-Taylor said. The woman, however, concealed a book underneath her clothing and sold it at another store, she said. Police have been unable to contact the woman, who was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 135 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. The textbook is worth about $104.A 20-year-old female MSU student reported some of her clothing stolen between 8 a.m. June 20 and 4 p.m. July 10 at Rather Hall. An orange tank top, brown T-shirt and a pair of blue pajama pants were stolen from her room, which the student claimed she always locked, McGlothian-Taylor said. No damage was done to the room, and the clothes are worth about $20.A 40-year-old man allegedly stole a computer at about 3 p.m. Sunday from the campaign office for Jerry Hollister, a 68th District State Representative candidate, located at 2200 Michigan Ave. The Apple Mac Book Pro belonged to Hollister's campaign manager, Farhan Bhatti, and contained the entire collection of Hollister's campaign files. The computer was left unattended and out of view from volunteers, according to a press release from the campaign office. Lansing police were called immediately after it was found missing, and about an hour later the suspect was caught escaping on a bicycle. The computer is worth about $3,000.Lindsey Poisson
