A 42-year-old female reported her purse stolen between 11:25-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at IM Sports-East. "She was visiting and while attending an event at the IM, she left for five minutes to take pictures of an event," MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. When the woman came back, she noticed her purse missing, McGlothian-Taylor said. The $20 purse contained a black Motorola cell phone worth about $200, $70 in cash and various credit cards.A 22-year-old male MSU student reported his cell phone stolen between 6:20 - 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at IM Sports-West. The student put his cell phone between his sandals on a table near a basketball court, McGlothian-Taylor said. "He had been playing basketball in the IM West Gym 1," she said. "He did indicate he saw several subjects enter the gym while he was playing." When the subjects left, he noticed his black Motorola Razr missing and went after the group to inquire about his cell phone, she said. The group, part of a summer program, denied taking the cell phone, and police later contacted their counselor. The group was looking for their counselor in one of the building's gyms, and happened to go to the wrong one, McGlothian-Taylor said. The cell phone is worth about $200.A 48-year-old MSU employee reported a laptop stolen from a locked room between 5 p.m. June 29 and 8 a.m. July 7 in the Natural Resources Building. "The laptop had been kept in a Dell laptop backpack," McGlothian-Taylor said. "This had been left on the floor in a corner, which was locked." After the employee came back on July 7, the bag was empty, and the gray Dell D610 was missing. Several people have access to the room but are advised to lock the door, McGlothian-Taylor said.
