Police briefs 03/30/06

An MSU police officer chased a man after the officer saw him peeking into Spartan Village windows at about midnight on Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. When the officer talked to the suspect, he ran away, breaking a metal chain-link fence and causing $200 in damage. A K-9 unit was called, but the suspect got away.The officer contacted a 21-year-old student who lived in one of the rooms the man was peeking into. The student said she was in the room and heard commotion and screaming but didn't look out the window or notice anyone looking in her room.A 28-year-old student reported a $100 textbook stolen from the Main Library's second floor between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said she left the book on a table while she went to a computer.Melissa Domsic
