The 21-year-old East Lansing woman who was hit by a car Tuesday was confirmed to be a student, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student was hit by a Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of West Circle Drive and the Beal Street campus entrance at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. The student's backpack got the brunt of the hit, and there were no serious injuries, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student told him she did. Between 11:30 and noon that day, the student was in her room with her door open, waiting for a friend. The man, whom the student did not know, came into her room unannounced and asked how she would be able to defend herself against a person like him. He then sat on her futon. The student was scared and the man then walked out of the room, McGlothian-Taylor said. Officers interviewed the man, who said he had been staying with a friend in the dorm for a few days. He said he thought he knew the student or her roommate, and when he realized he didn't, he left the room. The man also denied making the comment to the student. The student told police she doesn't know if she wants to press charges.A 21-year-old student reported that his friend, an 18-year-old student, had illegally used his debit card to make more than $300 in purchases, McGlothian-Taylor said. The 18-year-old student had been staying with the 21-year-old student. After noticing suspicious charges on his account, the 21-year-old student found a receipt with his debit card number and his friend's signature on it.
