• The women's basketball team takes on Duke in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. Here's everything you ever wanted to know about Duke and more.

The year the university was established: 1924

Location: Durham, N.C.

Nickname: Blue Devils

Famous alumni: Grant Hill, former Detroit Piston forward; Elizabeth Dole, North Carolina senator and wife of former presidential candidate Bob Dole. Duke School of Law alumni include Richard Nixon, former U.S. president; Kenneth Starr, independent counsel in the investigation of President Clinton; and Drew Rosenhaus, sports agent known for representing wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Coach: Gail Goestenkors. She is 361-96 in 14 seasons at the helm of the Blue Devils. She is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State and a Waterford native.

Record: 28-3 overall, 12-2 Atlantic Coast

History in NCAA Tournament: This is the 12th straight tournament appearance for the Duke women's basketball team.

The team's No. 1 seed marks the fifth time in the last six years they have been a top seed.

The Blue Devils now have nine straight Sweet 16 appearances to go along with four consecutive Elite Eight appearances and three Final Fours since 1999.
