Five favorites

Things in pop culture that might make your life a little bit better

1 Can't get enough Dick Cheney hunting humor? Watch a music video sung to the tune of Aerosmith's "Janie's Got a Gun" — "Cheney's got a gun. Dick Cheney shot someone. Cindy Sheehan better run. And watch her liberal buns" — and learn the rest of the lyrics at www.toonedin.com/cheney.html.

2 If the idea of a shaven-head Natalie Portman turns you on, then check out "V For Vendetta," opening this Friday. Set in a futuristic fascist state, Portman plays an ordinary London woman turned "freedom fighter" after being rescued by a masked vigilante, V (Hugo Weaving). The movie is adapted from the graphic novel by Alan Moore.

3 It's turning into a 1950s black-and-white horror movie around here: Attack of the Rolled Tortillas — or something. But seriously, burritos are taking over East Lansing. Do your civic duty by eating them on Friday. Chipotle, 529 E. Grand River Ave., is promising free burritos from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

4 Whether "Brokeback Mountain" brought a tear to your eye or not, go to www.dailysixer.com for some laughs. The Web site has a handful of Hollywood parodies of the film, including a "Star Wars" and SpongeBob SquarePants rendition. The fake trailers are complete with Brokeback's theme music, excessive landscape shots and forbidden love.

5 With only a Swiss army knife, a package of Trident and a sandwich baggie, MacGyver can do anything he wants. "The right man when things go wrong" is back. The fifth season (1990) of MacGyver came out on DVD today. Pick it up before he uses the underside of the disc to start a fire.
