Police briefs 02/03/06

A blank check was cashed for $500 after an 18-year-old student's credit card, military ID and three blank checks were reportedly stolen at about midnight Jan. 25 from the student's East Akers Hall dorm room, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect was invited to stay for one night in the victim's room by one of his roommates. After the suspect had been there for a few days, the student asked him to leave. A witness returned the ID and one of the blank checks to the student and told him that the suspect cashed one of the checks. The suspect is described as a 22-year-old East Lansing man, white, 5-foot-8, 125 pounds, thin build with brown eyes and brown hair. The case is still under investigation.Melissa Domsic
