Police briefs 01/30/06

About $3,270 worth of unauthorized purchases were made on a 21-year-old student's American Express credit card after she left her wallet unattended at 11 p.m. Jan. 17 in the South Hubbard Hall first floor lounge, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student retrieved her wallet at the Hubbard front desk about 45 minutes later, but didn't check to see if her credit card was still in the wallet, McGlothian-Taylor said. She received a phone call from the credit card company two days later informing her of 14 unauthorized purchases, mostly made online. There are no suspects and the case is still under investigation.Melissa Domsic
