More than $3,000 of electronics and a guitar were reported stolen from a South Hubbard Hall room between 9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. An 18-year-old student said he left the room unlocked on Friday because his roommate was home. When he returned on Saturday, two laptop computers, a cell phone, television, iPod, guitar, Xbox and Xbox game were missing from the unlocked room. The student's 18-year-old roommate said he did not remember if he locked the door. The items belonged to the student, his roommate and another 18-year-old friend, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 20-year-old student's $1,200 Dell laptop computer was missing from her South Hubbard Hall room, McGlothian-Taylor said. It was reportedly stolen between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Friday when her roommate left the room unlocked while she went to dinner.A 19-year-old student was reportedly assaulted at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday near her North Hubbard Hall room, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said a 19-year-old woman who was a former friend knocked on her door and tried returning some items to the student. The student asked her to leave, and the woman then struck the student twice on her face, knocking her to the ground. When officers talked to the woman, she denied hitting the student and said the student attacked her. The victim had redness on her face and a witness saw the subject standing near the victim, who was lying in the doorway.A cell phone and two digital cameras were reportedly stolen from a North Hubbard Hall room between 6 and 6:45 p.m. Jan. 17, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 21-year-old student said he walked down the hall, left his door unlocked and returned to find $650 of his and his roommate's electronics missing.A 19-year-old student reported his laundry was stolen from an East Akers Hall laundry room between 8:15 and 8:45 p.m. Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said. About $100 worth of clothes were missing, including eight pairs of boxer shorts, assorted shirts and socks.An 18-year-old student reported her laundry was taken from a West Wilson Hall laundry room between 7 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said she didn't get her laundry out of the dryer on Saturday because of a power outage. About $150 worth of clothes were missing, including blue jeans, an MSU warm-up jacket and pants.Melissa Domsic
