The State News caught up with gymnastics senior co-captain Sarah Alexander before the start of Wednesday's practice. The Spartans return to the mat at 1 p.m. Saturday with meets against Western Michigan and Pittsburgh.

"Not really. 'Cause my philosophy in life is to have fun — I say it to my team a lot. So I try to follow that all the time."

"My fiancé just bought a house, so I got a lot for the house, and stuff to decorate with. It was more of a practical Christmas this year."

• Any unusual habits or quirks she may have …
"I'm sure I do, I just don't find them strange."

• On her ultimate vacation …
"Hawaii. I've wanted to go for a while for the warm weather."

(Alexander grew up in North Carolina so the weather is a lot colder in mid-Michigan than she prefers.)
