This week's drink: Frosty the Snowman

December 8, 2005

The forecast reports snow for today, tomorrow and the next day. The bottom of your pants are soaking wet because of the snow. Your eyes are all squinty from looking at the snow. You fell down and hurt your bottom because of the snow.

It is easy to get down on the snow. So, to lessen any hatred for all those menacing white flakes, the "Frosty Snowman" mixed drink has been created to dampen your disgust toward the sky's dandruff.

FYI: This drink contains alcohol, so you must be 21 or older to purchase and consume it. Although, the "Frosty Snowman" can be made without rum for folks under 21.

Supplies:

Blender

Ice tray

Beer mugs or champagne glasses

Ice cream scoop

Ingredients:

Vanilla ice cream

Cream soda

Ice cubes

Bacardi clear rum

Directions:

Pour a full tray of ice cubes into the blender, filling it about halfway. Add scoops of vanilla ice cream until the blender is around three-fourths full. Pour cream soda into the mix until it fills one-fourth of the blender around the ice cubes. Add four shots of rum, put the lid on the blender and hit the liquefy button. This will yield enough for two melt-in-your-mouth mugs full of the "Frosty Snowman."

Cost of all items?

About $20 if you buy a fifth of Bacardi rum, half-gallon of vanilla ice cream and a two-liter of cream soda.

When best to serve?

While watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

What do you feel like after drinking?

The first snowflake of the year has given your soul a hug.

How many 'til you're tipsy?

One and you'll be bopping your head like a Peanuts character. Two or three and you'll be singing Beatles songs and phoning everyone you know to tell them, "I love you, man!"
