On Friday, police recovered a car stolen from an MSU student after the suspect showed her a gun, an MSU police report states.Officers with Lansing Community College Police and Public Safety initiated a traffic stop of the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu and learned it was reported as a stolen vehicle, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.Officers transported the driver and one passenger, both 16 years old, to the Ingham County Youth Center, and the car was taken into custody by MSU police, McGlothian-Taylor said. There were two burglaries in the 1500 block of Spartan Village on Thursday, with both money and computers stolen from two apartments, McGlothian-Taylor said.In one incident, a female student reported that $20 was taken from her desk drawer and a potted plant was broken while she and her roommate were out on Thursday, McGlothian-Taylor said.In another incident, also on Thursday, two laptop computers valued at $1,500 each were taken while the residents of the apartment were gone, McGlothian-Taylor said, adding that this is the second time in two weeks this apartment has had a theft.The doors and windows of the apartment were locked, and the incidents are under investigation, she said. Sparty sustained $1,100 in damage when it was painted blue and yellow during the estimated time of early Saturday morning, according to an MSU police report.An oak tree had "Michigan Tree" written in blue on the trunk, causing an estimated damage of $50, and a plant was pulled from the ground and placed in front of the statue, McGlothian-Taylor said.Margaret Harding
