In the four years Vito Mirra has worked at Ameriquest Mortgage Company, located at 325 E. Grand River Ave., he's only seen two people walk into the offices for mortgages.

"We're drawing our business from the Internet," said Mirra, who is the branch manager for Ameriquest's East Lansing location. "None of our business is walk-in, so placement is not really relevant to us."

Mirra said most of company, which provides mortgages for homes, is done over the phone and by mail, so the location was chosen because it was convenient for employees.

The Orange, Calif.-based Ameriquest Mortgage has 270 branches located across the United States. The company moved its local branch from Okemos to East Lansing in 2004.

"Customers like us to be local…even though they probably won't ever come to the office," Mirra said.
