Updated sentences

The following people were charged after being arrested during the April 2-3 disturbances.

Many of the charges have been resolved, but a few cases are still pending.

East Lansing expects to pay $190,389 to cover the various expenses of the disturbance, according to a police report. The city will recoup $52,490 so far in restitution from people found guilty of disturbance-related charges.

Disturbance Vocabulary:

Deferment plan — defendants plead guilty to a charge, and if they fulfill obligations designated by the city attorney and stay out of trouble for six months, the charge is dismissed.

769.1g statute — If a person is convicted of riot-related activity on or within 2,500 feet of a campus, the person could be kicked out of school for one year.


Nicholas Ahern: Guilty of obstructing a police officer.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $1,170 in court costs and fines, 15 days in jail, 80 hours of community service and 12 months of probation, 769.1g status removed.


Faye Baldauf: Charges of assembling for a riot and obstructing a police officer were reduced to a civil infraction.

Sentence: $300 in court costs and fines.


William Bedell: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $500 in court costs and fines.


Kevin Bellen: Guilty of obstructing a police officer.

Sentence: 12 months probation, prohibiting him from entering any public university campus in Michigan for one year and from consuming drugs or alcohol. Must pay $1,733 in restitution to the city and $860 in court costs and fines.


Sean Butler: Guilty of drunk and endangering.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $500 in court costs and 769.1g status removed.


Patrick Callanan: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Meridith Cischke: Guilty of fighting.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $335 court costs and 769.1g status removed.


Brandon Dawson: Guilty of two counts of disorderly conduct under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $600 in court costs and fines.


Shawn Etherton: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Adam Freck: Guilty of drunk and endangering.

Sentence: 12-month probation that prohibits him from entering any Michigan public university campus for one year and from consuming drugs or alcohol, and he must pay $1,733 in restitution to the city and $1,340 in court costs and fines.


Brian Fuller: Guilty of minor-in-possession alcohol charge.

Sentence: $165 in court costs and fines, credited for one day in jail, and 769.1g status removed.


Dennis Grain: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Daniel Grenawitzke: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $500 in restitution to the city and $200 in court costs and fines.


Ryan Henning: Guilty of MIP and drunk and endangering charges.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $500 in court costs and fines, 30 days in jail, eight hours of community service and probation for 18 months after his release from jail.


Andrew Hunter: Guilty of loud and boisterous conduct under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Adam Keusch: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Keith Kumor: Guilty of assembling for a riot under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Benjamin LaPlante: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under the deferment plan.

Robert Love: Guilty of drunk and endangering.

Matthew-Ryan Mathis: Guilty of urinating in public, MIP reduced to open-alcohol infraction.

Sentence: $80 in court costs and fines, $185 for the infraction, 769.1g status removed.


Justin McIver: Guilty of MIP and remaining within 300 feet of a fire.

Sentencing scheduled for Nov. 28.


Justin Nevius: Guilty of drunk and endangering under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Luke Pickelman: Guilty of one count of disorderly conduct under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Scott Riddle: Charged with obstructing a police officer and obstructing a roadway.

Scheduled for a jury trial Nov. 1.


Henry Robinson: Guilty of propelling a missile.

Sentence: 12 months of probation, must undergo behavioral treatment, go to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings twice a week, is prohibited from any Michigan university public campus for one year, and must pay $1,733 in restitution to the city.


Paul Sanchez: Guilty of loud and boisterous conduct under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


David Smith: Guilty of MIP.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $190 in court costs and fines, and 769.1g status removed.


Jonathan Starr: Guilty of propelling a missile.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $540 in court costs and fines, 769.1g status removed and ordered to do 80 hours of community service.


Peter Tanish: Guilty of obstructing a police officer under deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $500 in court costs and fines.


Daniel Taratuta: Guilty of remaining within 300 feet of a fire.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $1,200 in court costs and fines, and 12 months of probation which prohibit him from entering a Michigan public university campus until May 15, 2006.


Zachary Tocco: Guilty of loud and boisterous conduct under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city and $300 in court costs and fines.


Daniel Voetberg: Guilty of MIP and assembling for a riot charge under the deferment plan.

Sentence: $1,733 in restitution to the city, $300 for the deferment, $190 for the MIP and 769.1g status removed.
