An MSU student working for the university was assaulted on Saturday at West Circle Drive and Kalamazoo Street, according to an MSU police report. The student, who was directing traffic at about 9:40 a.m., told the driver of a 2005 black Mercedes he had to continue going straight because he didn't have the proper pass necessary to turn into a parking area, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. Believing the driver was going to turn anyway, the student stepped in front of the vehicle, she said. The student said he thought the vehicle was going to hit him because it inched up and so he put his hands on the car, McGlothian-Taylor said. The passenger got out of the car and an argument ensued, ending with the passenger grabbing the student around the neck, punching him and pushing him backward, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student had no visible injuries and the case is ongoing, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 1993 red Geo Prizm was taken from Lot 89 sometime between Sept. 26 and Sunday, according to an MSU police report. The owner, a 21-year-old MSU student, said the door was unlocked, but the keys weren't in the vehicle, McGlothian-Taylor said. The vehicle was estimated to be worth $2,000, she said.Margaret Harding
