Police briefs 10/04/05

A 14-year-old girl told police she was "groped" on the buttocks for about 10 seconds as she bent over to pick up a returnable bottle on Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect, a 23-year-old male with no university affiliation, was arrested for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, , McGlothian-Taylor said.• MSU police had 65 arrests for the University of Michigan football game, compared to the 149 arrests the department saw in 2003, when the game was last held at home, McGlothian-Taylor said. The new tailgating rules, that stipulate that tailgaters can not line up for a spot before 7 a.m. and the fact that people were made aware of the rules in advance, contributed to the relatively low arrest rate, McGlothian-Taylor said.
