Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

Five favorites

Every week, The State News presents five things going on in the world of pop culture that might make your life a little bit better.

1. "I Should Have Cheated," from R&B songstress Keyshia Cole. Forget about catering to your man - true, gritty soul is rare these days, and Cole delivers honesty without sugarcoating it. Her style echoes Mary J. Blige - although her choice of hairstyle recalls Cyndi Lauper. But the song makes up for it. Trust us.

2. XuQa.com, which is apparently the new Facebook. A few, forgettable imitator sites have sprung up, such as Imeem and CollegeFacebook, but this site might actually serve as a temporary distraction for those obsessed to see who their second-grade best friend is "in an open relationship" with.

3. "It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken: The Smart Girl's Breakup Buddy," by Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola-Behrendt. Much like "He's Just Not That Into You," here's another book soon to dominate everyone's bookbag alongside "My Bondage and My Freedom." This self-help book helps recent break-up survivors get through the tragedy. It's $13.96 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

4. Got time for lunch? Try the General Tso's Chicken at MSU Rice Kitchen, 551 E. Grand River Ave. It's $5.45 - but remember the price goes up, so get it before it gets too late.

5. We know you've seen the commercials. The ultimate guilty pleasure just got better. "My Super Sweet 16," which airs 10:30 p.m. Mondays on MTV, features even brattier girls - and even more boys. Yes, they really are that mean.
