Police briefs 04/18/05

A 65-year-old male employee told police his $1,610 Sony laptop computer was stolen from his office in the Biochemistry Building between 3:10 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. Thursday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The man told police he left his office door open and unlocked. The case still is under investigation.• A 14-year-old girl damaged a concrete bench when the car she was driving jumped a curb in Lot 96, near the Clinical Center, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 44-year-old female, the owner of the car, also was in the 2003 GMC Envoy, she said.The girl reportedly was attempting to park the vehicle in a space when she pressed the gas instead of the brake and the car jumped the curb and struck a parking sign. The car then struck a concrete bench. The car rested on top of the bench. It possibly traveled 60 feet, McGlothian-Taylor said. • A 22-year-old student reported his personal belongings and those of two others stolen from unlocked lockers in Jenison Field House between 4:20 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student told police his black, trifold Fossil wallet, containing pieces of identification and $10 were stolen. Also at Jenison, two other students had their keys stolen from two separate unlocked lockers, McGlothian-Taylor said. The case still is under investigation.Lauren Phillips
