'Finding Neverland' showing on campus

The film "Finding Neverland" will be shown at 1 p.m. today as the "Monday Matinee Movie - Dessert and a Movie for Adults" event at the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbott Road.

In the film, Johnny Depp stars as playwright and author J.M. Barrie. After numerous failed attempts at creating a funny, well-written play, Barrie finds himself in the park playing with his dog. A few minutes later, Barrie comes across his inspiration for his next big project - four young boys and their widowed mother.

The rest of the story follows Barrie's life as he goes through experiences that shape what we all know as "Peter Pan."

"Finding Neverland" won an Oscar for Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original score).

It was also nominated for six other Oscars, including Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Depp).

The film has a running time of 106 minutes and is rated PG. Dessert will be served at the event.

To register, call the East Lansing Public Library at (517) 351-2420.
